Minimal Design, Maximum Impact

When done right – this technique can be very effective. Minimal web designs are often appealing for design portfolios and product related websites. This aesthetic works because the focus is shifted away from the site design and the content becomes the most important element.

Here are 10 minimal website designs that have inspired me. I hope they inspire you as well.

I agree with you, minimal design will stay a trend. I love the look of most minimalistic themes/designs I see, it’s something about them. It’s like a beautiful women who doesn’t where all the makeup, just natural.

I heard someone say that a “flashy website is just an alternative to an effective one”. I agree with that also.

    Nice post Simon.

Domenick – That is a great quote about flashy vs. effective websites! I’m definitely going to get some use out of that quote :)

Amber – I like that kind as well. Typography becomes an important design element when the designs are stripped down.

I agree. As trite as it may sound, “less is more” is so true. In an environment were drive-thru mentality permeates everything we do it’s difficult to slow things down to get those better results with minimal design. While Cicero’s quote below is about writing it certainly applies to other communication such as design, photography etc.

“If I had more time, I would have written a shorter letter.”
    - Marcus T. Cicero
